2010 10 13 Tigermeet Volkel

The 2010 NATO Tiger Meet was hosted by 313 Squadron, the Royal Netherlands Air Force F-16 unit based at Volkel AB. This meet was the first time the yearly gathering of air squadrons with the Tiger mascot was hostedby 313 Squadron. The NATO Tiger Association brings together units from all over the world that have a tiger or other big cat in their logos or emblems. The Tiger Meet is also intended by the association to strengthen the ties between its members.
During the eight-day event, 715 missions were planned with 644 missions actually flown. Despite reduced attendance because of budget constraints or operational commitments, more than fifty aircraft participated, including F-16s, Mirage 2000s, JAS-39s, Tornados, Saab 105s, as well as Hind and AB212 helicopters. The Hellenic Air Force and the Polish Air Force sent observers from their F-16 tiger squadrons. Both units are committed to attend in the full flying exercise next year.

2010 07 19 Departures RIAT Fairford

On Monday I witnessed the departures at Fairford.  Highlights were the helicopters hoovering just a  few metres in front of the crowd before take-off and the F-22 that took off and caom back after given a demonstration at Farnborough.
A very enjoyable day with splendid weather and a good amount of activity.
